Majority scaling back plans for new investment in the U.S

Among industrial manufacturers, optimism in the U.S. economy has dropped to 45% according to the Pricewaterhouse- Coopers' Q3 Manufacturing Barometer. This is a 17-point drop from the 62% level of optimism reported last quarter. The majority of manufacturers in the U.S. seem to scale back plans for major new investments during the next 12 months. The reasons for this drop are said to be high oil and energy prices.

On the other hand, the US-manufacturers and produces who work on the international markets, have a clear benefit of the weak dollar. Especially compared to Euro. The Euro has risen around 10 cents since mid August, when a crisis in the U.S. sub prime mortgage market began to spread to other areas of the economy.

What about Tube and Pipe Industry

The machine sales in USA have slowed down during this year. This is corresponding with the present economic development in the country. However, the fact is that dollar is still getting weaker is only positive for all US producers and manufacturers - no matter if they work national or international market. It will be difficult for rest of the world to compete against such a high currency value mismatch. In this respect, even if it seems that the machinery investments, for example, are being postponed in US, the domestic manufacturers are in a good position against foreign competition with the investments that still takes place.

In Europe, on the other hand, I have not been witnessing such a considerable drop - especially what comes to machinery investments, but I can read more frequently news that the European economy has reached the turning point. Who has the crystal ball to predict what year 2008 brings along? Not me.

5 Milloin visitors at TubeNet

One important milestone was reached during November 2007 - 5 Milloin visitors. It should be understood that this figure means visitors - not hits that are often referred. Number of hits may be 5-10 times higher, because single visitor makes lots of hits depending on how many pages are opened during the visit.

Cheers my friends
