For seamless pipes and tubes, a 6 Moly steel grade has been incorporated to the production programme of TTI-Tubacex Tubos Inoxidables S.A.. With ASTM designation UNS S31254, the basic characteristics of this high alloyed austenitic stainless steel grade is not only the resistance to pitting and crevice corrosion, to general corrosion, and to stress corrosion cracking, but also its strength in comparison to common austenitic grades. The main application fields are the offshore sector, seawater handling equipment, pulp and paper industries, and desalination equipment, for heat exchanger tubes, and linepipe.
The steel for the manufacturing of the seamless tubes and pipes will be supplied by the Groups steel mill Aceralava, which will also deliver 6 Moly billets into the market.
Tubacex is continously including a new steel grade basically high nickel alloys- into its stainless steel range of products, and the introduction of the mentioned UNS S31254 follows the success of the grades included in production in the last years, Alloy800, Alloy825 and Alloy20.
