The Pipestoppers Division of Huntingdon Fusion Techniques Limited is manufacturing a new range of expanding plugs for sealing, stopping, weld purging and leak testing pipes and tubes. This range of plugs is manufactured from nylon which is a high quality, inert, engineering polymer giving high accuracy, a guarantee of sealing and a long life. They are manufactured to suit internal diameters from 12 to 150 mm (0.5 - 6.0 inches) diameter with the expansion range of each one overlapping the next, to cover the whole range of imperial and metric sizes. Other plugs of the same style are manufactured in Aluminium and Steel for pipes of 2" (50 mm) up to 72" (1800 mm) The plugs have hollow shafts which are threaded to accept BSP connectors and they are supplied with plain end caps containing a rubber seal. Each plug comprises a centre shaft over which are two compression plates. Between the compression plates is a natural rubber ring which is expanded by means of a wing nut on the shaft, which when tightened closes the two plates and compresses the rubber ring seal between them to seal the plug tightly inside the pipe or tube.
