Fall has arrived to Europe and summer holidays are once again history. Few weeks ago I had an opportunity to visit Bimu in Milan. It was a general show for Machine Tools, Robots and Automation including also Tube and Pipe machinery hall. It was clear even before the show began, that it will attract mostly local industries and that was also the outcome. It's my understanding that Italian Tube fabricators are not too interested to travel overseas for an exhibition. They prefer local shows and Bimu served them well. The show lasted from Tuesday until Sunday and it was Saturday that turned out to be the busiest day.

Fabtech Cleveland

What will be the next major event for the Tube and Pipe Industries? My calender says that there is Fabtech Cleveland coming next on November 14 -16. Based on the correspondence with the organizers, I have understood that the show has been sold out long time ago. What comes to Tube Pavilion, the organizers reported that it will be 64% larger this year having 119 exhibitors. I guess that these figures are talking thir own language. Fabtech Cleveland is doing very well.

I have no chance to attend Fabtech but I wish all the best for all of you who have already booked your trip to Cleveland. Keep me informed how the show turned out!

Warning for fraud messages

Here is a general warning for all TubeNet visitors. I have received some questionable Nigerian source emails regarding an "opportunity of a lifetime" etc. I have reason to believe that some TubeNet members may have received similar emails with promise of making lots of money. This is a fraud that has been going on for quite a few years now and I would like everybody to be aware of it.

What they usually do is request a person's bank account numbers with the promise of depositing a large sum into it and you receive a commission, what they then (try to) do is remove your existing funds and you never hear from them again. Click here and here or here to read some of these messages.

Schumacher won the Formula 1 title 2000

Same time last year I was delighted to write that my countryman - Mika Hakkinen was the worldchampion. This year I have to accept that it is Michael Schumaher's turn. Anyhow, Schumacher has earned the victory. There are no doubts about that and the matter that Ferrari finally won the champioship is only good for the Formula 1 generally. It keeps the interest alive and that secures the flow of sponsoring money which is necessary for the circus.

Cheers,
