East Haven, CT. Thermatool Group has completed construction of a new Flying Dual-Headed, Rotating Cold Saw for in-line cutting of 5” to 16” (400-1280 mm) diameter tube and pipe in wall thicknesses from .150” to .500” (3.8 - 12.7 mm).

The new saw will also handle square tubes from 4” to 12” (101.6 - 304.8 mm) and rectangles with heights from 4” to 12” (101.6 - 304.8 mm) and widths from 4” to 15” (101.6 - 381.0 mm). Material which can be handled is HRS Black Steel with incoming yield strengths up to 85,000 psi.

The system can handle a 120 FPM (36.5 M/Min) maximum production speed, cutting tubes in 20 to 50 ft. (6 - 15 M) lengths with a cut length tolerance of + 0.120” (3.0 mm) at constant line speed.

Features of new Cold Saw include:

• A Double pinion, AC servo motor driven Carriage Drive System which is mounted to and moves with the Carriage, and is designed for minimum backlash and consistent cut lengths.
• An individually driven and controlled tube exit support carriage.
• A rigid dual spindle sawing system with gear reducer, designed for a very low backlash and very high torque to weight ratio, minimizing vibration and dramatically increasing blade life. Blade velocity and penetration velocity are adjustable by the operator.

The saw is available for sale to the North/South American and Asian markets.
