Microgroup adds electropolishing for mirror finishing tubing
MicroGroup, Inc., a leader in tubing manufacture and fabrication, has added in-house electropolishing to its group of post-process finishing services. The electropolishing process is used to achieve a clean, shiny, highly polished finish for tubing, valves, and fittings.
Electropolishing is ac controlled chemical process which removes a slight amount of the tube or component's surface. This creates a smooth, polished surface while enhancing corrosion resistance and removing feather burrs.
MicroGroup, Inc. employs a number of other cleaning processes to finish tubing and components to customers' exact specifications. Vibratory polishing in a special container with media and detergent removes burrs, breaks edges, and cleans. Pyrolization is used to clean contaminants such as pyrogens by placing components in a controlled atmosphere and heating them in an oven.
The company also offers passivation, a chemical process which increases the corrosion-inhibiting properties of stainless steel and cleans discoloration from welding and cutting. For removing contaminants and debris from tubing, ultrasonic cleaning applies high frequency sound waves combined with liquid media. Yet another technique, microblasting, is used to deburr and clean while creating a non-reflective surface which is ideal for adhesion to plastics during injection molding.
MicroGroup, Inc. manufactures stainless steel tubing, tube and hose fittings, miniature fittings and valves, dispensing products, and a collection of unique small tubes. The company has earned the Certificate of Registration for ISO 9002 compliance and offers a free, 64 page color catalog which may be requested by calling 1-800-ALL-TUBE.
