Industrial Ultrasonic Quality Assurance
Bloemendaal -AIMS NDT in Holland introduces the MFD800 ultrasonic test system for offline and in line testing of materials such metals, plastics, rubber, ceramics etc. for material defects and thickness tolerances.
Cracks, inclusions, product tolerances can be detected and measured with the MFD800 using 1 to 64 probes. Typical applications for testing are: Welds on ERW welded tubing, shrinking cracks in steel bars an billets, aluminum porosity after extrusion, gas inclusions in plastic products.
The most important innovation of the instrument is the ergonomic design concept, making the control, calibration and interpretation of the results very easy. Especially in production lines where operators have to concentrate on making a good product rather than being an ultrasonic specialist, this is of serious importance.
Bar graph presentation of the signal amplitude is also a unique innovation of this ultrasonic system.
From a distance, an operator can easily keep an eye on the test results of all the channels as the bar graphs turn from green to red when a signal crosses the detection level.
The MFD800 has a standard interface box enabling the user to connect alarm lamps, sorting systems, a PLC and encoders to measure product positions to make a full colour on screen presentation of the product under test.
An RS232 link for PC data collection and analysis is standard available. Customized software can be offered.
AIMS NDT is currently looking for serious agents in many countries. A good technical support for the customer is a major factor of success with test systems for quality testing. Ever higher product reliability and economy in production of materials require a minimum downtime of the production facilities. AIMS has anticipated on this and has designed the system so that, if necessary, very quick service is guaranteed by simple component replacement.
