SMS Eumuco GmbH, Leverkusen/Germany, has received its third order within ten years from Gulf Extrusions Co., Dubai/United Arab Emirates, for a complete extrusion press line. The new line comprises a 17.4 MN extrusion press in front loader design for light metals with run-out track, a double puller system and a hot saw, special cooling equipment, cooling table, stretcher, batching table and sawing line.

The front loader design of the new press allows Gulf Extrusions to realize higher productivity through significantly reduced non-productive times. To minimize the scrap rate, the run-out track is fitted with a flying cut-off saw, enabling sections to be cut on the fly. Furthermore, the stretcher is provided with multi-part, self-locking top clamping that reduces deformation of the sections and, consequently, scrap ends.

A high-intensity air cooling system including a water-mist device serves as an innovative method of cooling, suitable for a broad range of sections.

The new extrusion press line is to replace a 16 MN press. Besides offering Gulf Extrusions increased output, it especially broadens the range of products at the same time. Delivery is scheduled for the end of 2001.
