SENIOR Changes to grow Pump Business

Weir Group has made two senior management appointments to grow its core pumps business, which accounts for 50 per cent of turnover.

John Hood, formerly managing director of Weir Pumps, the biggest company in the group, has been appointed to a broader role over the Weir Group's global pump activities, where it is the world's seventh largest pumpmaker.

As director of product and market development (pumps), Mr Hood will identify ways in which Weir can grow the business, including by acquisition.

He will remain a director of Weir Pumps and its sister company Weir Engineering Services.

Mr Hood's promotion has resulted in John Frew, presently deputy managing director, succeeding him as managing director of Weir Pumps.
