Specification Changes for API Line Pipe

Editors comments: While I was reading through Preston's latest report I noticed an important matter that needs more attention. There are changes for API Line Pipe. Below please find Preston's report on this matter. The detailed changes can be found from TubeNet's Preson's Report pages.

The API has now released their 42nd Edition of Specification 5L. These Standards become effective July 1, 2000. This is perhaps the most significant change that has been made in many years because it redefines our entire manufacturing, marketing and end-use application. These changes were mandated by the U.S. Department of Transportation and while aimed at high pressure gas transmission and volatile liquids applications, impact every facet of the market.

These differences between the 41nd Edition and the 42nd Edition are outlined in this table. Many questions have been asked and we have addressed some of the more common ones.
