MAJOR EXPANSION AT UK TUBE-BENDING MACHINE COMPANY
New factory, new showroom, new product range
In an aggressive move to grab a major share of the European market, Langbow Ltd, of Walsall, has increased its factory space by 70% and is moving into new areas of the tube-bending market, adding to its product portfolio tube bending machines from the internationally renowned company SOCO.
"We have taken another factory unit of 6,500 sq. ft and we're moving over our machine shop to give us more capacity," says Langbow Managing Director, Bruce Langley. "In addition, we are fitting out a showroom to show both our existing range of compression bending machines and our completely new range of SOCO NC mandrel-bending machines, which will be priced aggressively to beat anything in the UK market.

"The new range is a perfect fit with our compression-bending machines," he adds. "It takes us into completely new areas of the market, so that customers can now come to us for a one-stop-shop solution to all of their tube-bending needs."
As well as Langbow single and multi-axis compression bending machines, the showroom will have SOCO demonstration machines available for testing by customers at all times.
"This is a major investment for Langbow," adds Bruce Langley, " and is a reflection of our success in the compression bending market, in which we are now a major world player. Customers have often asked us for the kind of machines that are made by SOCO. Up to now, we have not been able to supply the complete range of benders. Now we can!"
The high quality ISO 9002 certified SOCO range of mandrel-benders offers fast, repeatable and accurate bending of tube, with fast set-up and changeover. Langbow will be selling the NC models, designed for tubes of up to 89 mm diameter.
All machines are CE approved, come with a two year Warranty and will be fully supported by Langbow with tooling, installation and service. Machines will always be available ex-stock and a substantial spares inventory will be held at the Walsall factory.
The SOCO machines are exceptionally operator-friendly, with a touch-screen control for ease of data input and logical, menu-driven programming. A high capacity memory holds multiple programs for rapid changeover times.
Hydraulic pressure provides the precision required for the bending without deformation of both thin wall pipes and also for small radius bending. The machines are packed with features including full on-screen diagnostics and mandrel extraction at high or low pressure. Accuracies are exceptional, with bending accuracy of ± 0.1°.
All of the SOCO machines are suitable for mild and stainless steel, copper and aluminium tube. As standard they include bending die, clamping die, pressure die and standard mandrel and have a host of optional accessories to cover a very wide range of tube bending applications.
"We will be opening our showroom at the end of September," concludes Bruce Langley. "Initially we will be selling to the UK and Ireland, but we are already looking at the European market and considering stocking the ranges in our American operation."
