ACIPCO 24 " pipe mill commissioned

In 1997, ACIPCO, Birmingham, AL decided to upgrade their 24" diameter steel pipe mill. The aim of the modernization was to reduce fabrication costs and to increase the product quality.

The heart of the pipe mill the 24" forming section was newly designed and manufactured by DMS, France ( Group Fives Lille) within 12 months.

Dismantling of existing equipment, erection and commissioning of the line was performed in an eight-week shut down period. During the final three weeks of the schedule, performance tests were conducted under DMS supervision. All diameters, grades and wall thickness' tested were successfully produced and yield, tolerances and mill line throughput have been improved.
