Terrorists

Like everyone, I was shocked about the World Trade Center terrorist attack. I just cannot understand how stupid Homo Sapiens being can be. How can human mind be so weak that it can get blind from stuff like religion so that this "belief" makes someone do things like that? I am not pointing to any particular religion but all of them. Anyhow, in historical perspective this is just a continuation - can you recall what happened during crusades?

I am not religious man myself. I rather believe in science and evolution instead of religions. This World Trade Center and Pentagon happening only strengthens my own understanding of life and our being on this planet. Anyhow, this is not the end of the world and show must go on somehow. I try to do my part of the recovery and will write below some news from Schweissen & Schneiden show in Essen, Germany

Schweissen & Schneiden
("Welding and Cutting")

I spend a week in Schweissen & Schneiden show in Essen, Germany. As guessed, all orbital welding machine manufacturers were there beside other welding and cutting products. That includes Messer Polysoude, ARC, Magnatech, Orbitech, Orbimatic and Esab, Also some tube cutting and beveling machine makers showed their products like Axxair and George Fisher, From NDT Equipment maker sector I noticed Foerster. Also T-DRILL was there showing their tube branching and cutting machines. Not surprisingly because their tube branching systems and orbital welding are speaking same language indeed.

I think that Essen show is not very well known by Tube Industry but those who have products that are relating to welding and cutting of metal, should consider Essen show. That is my opinion since the show attracts people. There were 93000 visitors. That is considerable figure even if knowing that plenty of them are from Germany. But the show is international also and I could see lots of foreign visitors. The only things that I hated in Essen is the shortage of hotel rooms and the location of show area. It is practically middle of the city so you can imagine how desperate people were with parking places. The train turned out to be the best way to travel there.

From technical point of view I didn't notice any very spectacular new things. New versions of traditional welding and cutting equipment.

One last note. Essen Welding and Cutting show takes place only every 4:th year.

Cheers!
