It has been a busy spring time on TubeNet. Not only because of Tube Dusseldorf show, but it was one reason for sure. Tube was a good show - I think the best in it's history. I don't have available the number of visitors yet, but I have reason to believe that the new record has been made.

TubeNet Editor

It may sound good but unfortunately the show has always it's glamour and the reality will come after some time. Exhibitors as well as visitors knows very well that there are many kind of promises that are given during the show but - unfortunetly - not too many will become reality.

The real life after the show will give the truth. Therefore, I will let the time pass and as promised, will carry out the second "TubeNet Show Survey" sometime during July-August this year.

Fabtech and other tube shows

I met Fabtech organizers at Tube and based on the talks I think that Tube Industry will be having more attention with Fabtech in the US. For you who have been knowing TubeNet longer, it is not a new thing to hear that I am personally against this trend that more and more "a kind of" Tube shows will be established. Tube Dusseldorf in Europe fits to my understanding. In US it seems that Fabtech takes the leading role. What happens in Asia region remains to be seen. Anyhow, the recession time has find it's end now and the recovery started. Tube Singapore may be the "Tube Show in Asia" but it is still too early to say this and that.

New categories for Steel Tubes and Pipes

Thanks to several requests I have now introduced a new classification system for Steel Tubes and Pipes. Until now Stainless steel and carbon steel have been listed in a same category. I have learned that the applications where they are used are so different, that it is not good to keep them in a very same category. For this reason I have opened a new classification for Steel Tubes and Pipes and it follows the same principle as well known Preston's Report. It will take some time before industries will find this new system, but I think that it will be helping all of us to find the suppliers and producers easier way.

Other new features on TubeNet

There are also some new things on TubeNet. Old Marketplace was replaced by interactive Message Boards. I have received positive comments on that so now I think that it was a good idea. For information sourcing there is now a new Infocenter.

The most important improvement is still to come: The New Register - also fully interactive. The test period will be starting soon and if everything goes well, I think that the new register will be on-line on July-August.

TubeNet Statistics

The hits on TubeNet website keeps on increasing. Last week there were over 2400 hits. Based on messages that I have received from TubeNet visitors, I can say that TubeNet is really "Connecting Tube People" better every day. Statistics are supporting the same Last 42 weeks have generated 39221 inquiries.

This is all that I wanted to say this time. I wish happy spring for all!
