Company: Van Leeuwen Pipe and Tube Group, Netherlands
Attn: Petra van Zandvoort

Zwijndrecht, The Netherlands, 16 September 2003 - Van Leeuwen Buizen's Process Industry division has been awarded with contracts worth more than EUR 15 million for the supply of pipes, fittings and flanges on realizing phase-1 and phase-2 of the Sakhalin Island project.

The Sakhalin Island project is the largest foreign direct investment project in Russia for oil and gas development on the northeast shelf of Sakhalin Island. Exxon Neftegas Limited, an affiliate of ExxonMobil, develops phase-1 which covers the Chayvo, Odoptu and Arkutun-Dagi fields. Sakhalin Energy Investment Company Ltd. (Shell) initiates phase-2 which covers the onshore processing facility where crude oil, gas and condensate from offshore platforms in the Piltun-Astokhskoye and Lunskoye fields is processed and transferred.

ABB Lummus Global Inc. has placed the contract for phase-1 on Wilson Supply, the American alliance partner for the Van Leeuwen Pipe and Tube Group. Dutch subsidiary Van Leeuwen Buizen will source, supply and marshal 8,000 tons of piping material at its Singapore location. The contract for phase-2 has been placed by Parsons Ltd. on Van Leeuwen Buizen and covers the supply of 3,000 tons of piping material for the onshore gas processing facility.

The first materials for this challenging project have already been shipped and deliveries are expected to be complete by the year-end.

The award of the Sakhalin Island contracts are a confirmation of Van Leeuwen Buizen's successful strategy to support energy companies and their engineering contractors worldwide with the provision of steel piping materials and enhanced logistics services.
