Integrating a new machine into an existing line is always difficult and costly as part of the existing line has to be moved to make space for the new element. Mazzola Engineering has found a solution in that the strip accumulator providing continuous coil feeding to the line has been placed above other entry- line components (decoiler/peeler, flattener and endwelder), mounted on a steel structure fixed to the floor without any special foundations. Therefore the investment could be limited to an amount that can be recovered, depending on the production output and the products value, within 9-14 months. The continuous feeding of the line allows an increased output of at least 13%. Considering this particular case where the line produces profiles averaging 1.6 Kg/m at an average speed of 50 m/ during 6000 hours per year, the output increases by approx. 5,000 tons/year.
