Punching and Forming Plates Punching and forming plates are special tooling plates that are similar in function to a hydraulic press, but differ in that several small special punching and forming units are mounted on a tooling plate. The tooling plate mounts on a frame that contains a hydraulic power unit. The punching and forming units are sized according to the work required. This may include flattening and piercing one hole, or trimming the end of a tube, or producing a bend, or forming the tube either at the end or somewhere along the length of the tube.
